Fran Kirby and the other Lionesses in the England pride are off to New York. Well, the New York stadium in Rotherham.

England play Sweden on Remembrance Sunday at 1.30pm as they continue their build-up to the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, with the latest game following matches against Brazil at Notts County (Oct 6) and Australia at Craven Cottage (Oct 9).

The South Yorkshire venue has already hosted several women’s and development team fixtures. More than 10,000 spectators packed the New York stadium to witness the Lionesses’ 1-1 draw at home to Belgium in a Euro 2017 qualifier.

More recently, the home of the Millers was one of six stadiums to host the men’s U17 European Championships, including the final in May. The AESSEAL New York Stadium, to give the ground its full name, is also among the nine venues put forward in The FA’s bid to host the Women’s EURO 2021.

Head coach Phil Neville said: “This is another exciting fixture as part of our early preparations for next summer’s World Cup.  Sweden are a strong side, currently sitting 11th in the world rankings, and we know a number of their players well.

“It was important in selecting these friendlies that we made sure we were going to be pitting ourselves against tough opposition who will really test us in the build up to the tournament. I hope our fans will enjoy coming along to support the Lionesses in what I’m sure will be another exciting game.”

Early bird tickets are available up to October 14, £7.50 for adults, £1 for children. Adult ticket prices then rise to £10. Available via TheFA.com/tickets
