Lindsey Robinson has been named as referee for the showpiece fixture in the women’s domestic calendar, the SSE Women’s FA Cup Final, between Arsenal and Chelsea Ladies on Saturday May 5… one of four female officials on the day.

She will be joined by assistant referees Stacey Pearson [Somerset FA] and Kirsty Dowle [Kent FA] as well as fourth official Helen Byrne [Liverpool FA].

Lindsey, an assistant ref in a Women’s FA Cup Final on two separate occasions, is from Durham. A regular official across the Women’s Premier League and Women’s Super League, she is also referee development officer for Northumberland FA.

“It’s a great honour to be asked,” she said. “I’m coming up to my tenth year as a match official so it’s a nice way to mark my anniversary. I’m privileged to have been given the opportunity.”

David Elleray, who chairs the FA’s refs’ committee, said: “We’re delighted to appoint Lindsey, Stacey, Kirsty and Helen. We have every confidence that their skills and experience will add to the occasion and enhance what is promising to be an exciting and entertaining final.

“Once again, The FA is very pleased that the most important domestic womens’ match will be controlled by a team of high-quality women officials and we wish Lindsey and her team every success and an enjoyable FA Cup final at Wembley.”

Kick off will be at 5.30pm. Tickets for the 2018 SSE Women’s FA Cup Final are available to purchase at www.thefa.com/tickets with kids going free.
